Mother of Dragons

Sometimes referred to as Khaleesi, Dany, Daenerys Targaryen is one of the major characters in Game of Thrones. Emilia Clarke plays Daenerys Targaryen, debuting at each season’s premiere.

Originally, this role was played by Tamzin Merchant. However, the directors recast the role for undisclosed reasons.

Daenerys Targaryen’s parents were King Aerys II Targaryen. He was ousted from his Iron Throne when Robert rebelled. Her mother was then sent to Dragonstone Island for safety just before King’s Landing was sacked. She died giving birth to Daenerys Targaryen during a storm that wrecked what remained of the Targaryen fleet. As a result, Daenerys Targaryen is sometimes called Daenerys Stormborn.

Current Lifestyle

KHALEESI lives in the East as an exile. She married Dothraki Khal Drogo who died around the same time as her unborn son due to the manipulations of the maegi Mirri Maz Duur.

In the process, her marriage and subsequent interaction and integration into the Dothraki peoples gave her the strength and confidence to lead. She also believes that she is the rightful queen and mistress over the Seven Kingdoms.

After her brother (Viserys) died, Daenerys Targaryen was the last scion of her bloodline. She, therefore, styles herself Daenerys of the House of Targaryen, the first of her name. She intends to reclaim the Iron Throne and the ascension to power as her birthright.

Other Titles

Daenerys Targaryen also has a number of other titles. For instance, during the Slaver’s Bay campaign, she was introduced with a variety of titles. These included Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Daenerys Stormborn of Targaryen House, Queen of Andals and of the First Men.

Apart from her bravery, quest for justice and hot headedness, Daenerys Targaryen has performed innumerable queenly feats. She hatched dragons after she had petrified dragons eggs burned with Drogo’s funeral pyre. She then went into the flames and claimed the dragons. These were the first dragons to be seen in hundreds of years, earning Daenerys Targaryen the title, Mother of Dragons.
